Become a Moving For Life Instructor

Theory Courses

Overview

Each of the following five Somatic Theory Courses are necessary to meet the graduation requirements of the Moving For Life Certified Instructor (MFLCI) training.

It is ideal that you complete these courses before you begin one of the certification program, or one of the intensive pedagogy or somatic movement workshops affiliated with them. However it is possible to take the Theory courses concurrently if you are training to become a MFLCI.

These trainings provide more applied knowledge and practice as it relates to movement education and dance fitness and expression. They also prepare you for the ISMETA professional designation of Registered Somatic Dance Educator if you have additional life experience and studies in dance and dance pedagogy.

Once we receive any of these applications, the faculty can help you understand if you are ready for the specific program based on your previous experience. Getting your free application in is a perfect way to find out if your prior studies qualify or to get guidance if you have not taken these exact courses.

Descriptions for each of the five Theory courses can be found below.

Please note that It is assumed that you have studied physical anatomy; either an academic or an experiential anatomy course. If you haven’t studied experiential or embodied anatomy you are expected to. One great resource is www.SomaticAnatomy.com with DEP RSMT Lissa Michalak.
